Pré-production producers

SHORT FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

The pre-producer transforms pre-productionally an universal problem and potential solutions, into a film-story visualization on paper;
In addition, she/he plans the production and calculates all costs in advance, and execute the first basic-marketing activities.
The visualizations can also be a series of stories, but in these cases multiple (pre-production) producers work together, at the same time.

INTRODUCTION

A pre-production producer* is a (prospective) officer, an initiator who prepares the film/video production.
He-she firstly follows an internal training on individual basis.
The training is an investment in him/herself:

• a study, about 5 hours per week, and
• on the basis of no cure, no pay a practice of minimum 15 hours per week
  (total a minimum of 20 hours per week).

The theoretical study portion takes place at the Secretariat of Casting International, and is in particular knowledge-sharing of doctrines*, and instructions about the forms of the work.

The portion of practice takes place at the producers’ home: the Coordinator is reading R&D script(s), scenario, screenplay, production- and financial breakdowns, as well as prepared marketing activities.
Approaching the first potential sponsors and advertisers by presentations is an important part of the function.
Perfecting the content of the pre-produced work is to be done by him/her in close mutual consultation with Casting International by brainstorm sessions during the theoretical study portion.

The learning/work-course is founded on the principle of the 3 teachers:

• the outer teacher teaches knowledge about the domain,
• the inner teacher teaches to recognize, and
• the secret teacher teaches to acknowledge.

The work:

A pre-production producer develops formats into video production projects;
formats are for example -unlimited-:
RECO's, think of Human trafficking, piracy, or the environment;
International ... researches, series preparing;
one feature film for a Media plan per country;
one feature film from Aliens project or a number of stories for a smaller format such as Mirrors'fate, or Jan del Valle.
These are all 'own' formats, related to the Mission.
There are basically only external commands of the United Nations performed, sometimes also for NGOs and Charities organizations.
Work of a pré-production producer can also contain commands via bids (example).

STATUS:

A pre-production producer (in training) is a tactical partner within a project or series and is considered to follow a (prospective) vertical incoming career to start in the rank of cornette (f) or ensign (m), who can make use of all facilities of the Secretariat and a staff, as the right hand of Casting International for the specific project/series during the pre-production.

A pre-production producer consults independently with advisors in addition to his/her core business of production-realizer, and is strongly market-oriented.

The end of a pre-production producer contract is when the project (or series) is (are) arrived in the production phase.
A pre-production producer can see her/his function transformed into that of a project-coordinator (can, need not, must not, can't also).
After the internal training (with a cure), the pre-production producer works as salaried staff-officer doing the coordination of the project, or starts up another pre-production, or will doing biddings so tenders becomes awarded.

MERITS

Pre-production producers in training, have in addition to an agreed amount at a cure, also contractual rights to a small percentage share of the project profits.

Pre-production producers who have an officer rank (those who already have had a cure by their 1^st project during the training), have a contract with monthly or daily salary, and have contractual right to a small percentage share of the profits from each project that they have developed with a cure.

Recruitment and selection

A project-coordinator is someone with an open mind, having empathy, and blessed with fantasy. Someone who can write well after HAVO (high school) level.

Ideally, he/she is a knowledge domain specialist with expert experiences, who has business time available.
These producers seek a career in this industry, and/or want to contribute the social or economic community, by bringing light into the unawareness about an universal problem of the large TV-/film-public.
Entertainment is a tool in this contribution.

In recruitments we search for people having a certain mentality; eg. warriors and not worriers.
In terms of the selection criteria they are mentally the 3 stars of Amsterdam {*heroic, *determined, *compassionate}, with the banner of integrity* (do what you say and say what you do).
In other words: World civilians.

The rank of a project-coordinator is linked to the type of work and format, the specific project, the degree of previous training(s), experiences, and individual abilities of the officer.
The number of years of services increase the salary.
